Hermitages

Each hermitage is built to be fully functioning with a sitting room, kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and chapel for the celebration of Holy Mass. At 635 square feet it is intended to be small enough to feel tucked away but roomy enough to be used for a longer retreat. It is intended to have all the essentials without any clutter, leaving one free to be about the ‘one thing necessary.’

Chapel

The chapel in each hermitage is prepared with all that is necessary for a priest to celebrate Holy Mass daily. He will only need to bring his alb. Since the Chapel of Jesus Christ, Eternal High Priest is shared by all the priests, it was needful to provide a place where each priest could offer Holy Mass in the silence and solitude of his hermitage. The Blessed Sacrament is not to be reserved in the hermitage chapels.

Living Area

Equipped with a wood burning stove and big leather chair, the sitting room is intended to help the priest slow down, open his heart and rest in God. The many windows look out on the surrounding woods.

Kitchen

Kitchen is fully functioning:

Fridge, Stove, Pots/Pans, Dishes, Toaster, and Coffee Maker.

Each priest should plan to bring his own food for breakfast and dinner. An optional hearty home cooked meal is provided at 4pm in the Priest Dining Parlor of the Motherhouse if a priest chooses. The walk/drive from the furthest hermitage to the Motherhouse is about a quarter mile.

Bed and Bath

Each Hermitage’s bedroom and bath are simple and orderly, with an extra-long twin bed, rocking chair, and walk-in shower. All linens are provided and will be set clean for a priest’s arrival.
